Leicester must accept a swap deal for Maguire if it comes their way

[ad_pod ]

According to The Sun, Manchester United could involve Eric Bailly in a swap deal which sees them try to bring Harry Maguire to Old Trafford this summer.

What’s the word?

Maguire has been one of the most impressive central defenders in the Premier League over the last couple of years and yet another transfer saga involving the player looks set to play out over the coming months.

The 26-year-old attracted the interest of United during the 2018 summer window but they now look as though they’re going to return for the defender again this year.

The Sun claim that Ed Woodward is prepared to meet Leicester’s £80m asking price for the defender but they could involve both Bailly and Marcos Rojo in a swap.

Bailly is rated at £22.5m per Transfermarkt so it would be terms which likely heighten the value of the deal even further.

Costly blunder if they don’t accept

The fact United would have to pay more than what Liverpool paid to bring Virgil van Dijk to Anfield is absurd.

Leicester clearly value the player very highly and a mega asking price of £80m tells the story.

Yet, if Woodward tried to include Bailly in a swap deal for Maguire, the Foxes would be stupid to reject it.

Despite injuries, the Ivorian has easily been one of United’s best defenders. That may not be saying a lot given the state of their backline, but the fact remains that he’s a high-class central defender.

Maguire is also in that bracket but as far as replacements go, landing Bailly in return for their star defender would be superb business.

The Foxes centre-back enjoyed a steady term in the Premier League throughout 2018/19 but his performances didn’t live up to the displays he turned in before the World Cup.

As a result, losing him wouldn’t be the end of the world, particularly if they can bring in a direct replacement as part of the deal.

Getting Rojo as well would perhaps be a little questionable, but if they have a chance of bringing arguably United’s best defender to the Midlands, they must accept.

Losing Maguire after letting Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante may not be the best statement but the addition of Bailly would certainly soften the blow.

Leicester’s potential £40m move for Lewis Dunk fails to make much sense

[ad_pod ]

According to TeamTalk, Leicester are eyeing up Lewis Dunk as a replacement for Harry Maguire should he leave this summer.

What’s the word?

Harry Maguire has had no shortage of potential suitors in recent times, attracting the interest of Jose Mourinho when he was at Manchester United last summer whilst also taking the eye of Manchester City.

Maguire has been a rock for Leicester, quickly establishing himself as one of the leading defenders in the Premier League, but it appears as though the Foxes could be willing to let him leave.

That’s according to TeamTalk who state Leicester won’t get in his way if a club meets their £85m valuation.

The same report suggests that they see Lewis Dunk as his replacement in a deal which may cost £40m.

Questionable transfer on the cards

If Leicester were to spend £40m on Dunk this summer it would be incredibly suspect.

When it’s come to transfer dealings since the club won the league they’ve done some remarkably poor business, particularly in signing the likes of Islam Slimani and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Bringing in the Brighton man as a replacement for Maguire makes sense but spending that sum of money does not.

If the club were put off by a £40m valuation of Youri Tielemans then signing a defender for the same price would surely anger Leicester supporters.

The Belgian was an instant hit at the King Power and it would be foolish to spend the money they could use in a deal for him elsewhere.

The millions the club can potentially make from Maguire would be significant but if it was spent on replacing the former Hull man, rather than simply promoting Filip Benkovic, the Foxes would have to be called into question.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

Dunk impressed for Brighton but he doesn’t warrant the same sort of fee that Tielemans is worth, especially considering it’s a deal that would smash their transfer record by £11m.

The Foxes need to learn from their mistakes in previous windows by avoiding a hefty transfer for the 27-year-old.

Everton Transfer Roundup: Gomes agreement, Defrel on radar, no sale of youngster

[ad_pod ]

The summer’s transfer window is in full swing and each of the 20 Premier League clubs are looking to ready their squads for next season. Marco Silva’s Everton are in the same boat, and the Portuguese may already be making waves. Today’s Everton transfer roundup includes an agreement for a classy midfielder, interest in a Serie A striker and an update on the future of an on-loan winger.

Gomes agreement

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s André Gomes has reached an agreement with Everton ahead of a potential permanent move to Goodison Park. Gomes spent last season on loan with the Toffees, scoring once in 27 appearances for the side.

Defrel interest

Everton are interested in AS Roma’s Grégoire Defrel according to Corriere Dello Sporto via Sports Witness. The French striker, who scored 11 times on loan at Sampdoria last season, is also attracting attention from Watford and other clubs in Italy.

Terim desperate for Onyekuru return

Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim is so eager to bring Henry Onyekuru back to Turkey that he is willing to strike a deal that does not include a purchase option according to Hurriyet. Onyekuru spent last season on loan at Gala and impressed but, whilst Everton will let him spend another year away, they are not willing to sell him.

I want him gone: Tottenham fans slam Kieran Trippier ahead of Ajax clash

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has attempted to raise the spirits of the club’s supporters ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Ajax in Amsterdam.

However, Trippier’s words have seemingly fallen on deaf ears, with Spurs fans instead taking to social media to have a pop at the England international.

It would be fair to say that the defender has struggled for consistency this season, and there is certainly a chance that he could be on the move this summer.

Tottenham head into the second leg of their semi-final trailing 1-0 from the reverse fixture against a brilliant Ajax last week.

Trippier, who is valued at £31.5 million by Transfermarkt, has insisted that Spurs can secure the result that they need to progress to the final, but the fans seemingly do not want the former Manchester City youngster to play any part in Amsterdam.

Manchester United: Reece James should sign and show Ashley Young the exit door

Manchester United need a squad refresh this summer, and it needs to be thorough. To that end, they should bring in Chelsea’s Reece James and throw out the crazily below-par Ashley Young.

The 19-year-old has been on a season-long loan at Wigan in the Championship this season and he’s settled in well, making 44 appearances and even bagging four goals and four assists. He looks a promising talent and United are after him, according to the Daily Mail.

They believe he’ll cost around £15m, but if he is to sign and be as successful as the scouts believe he’ll be, then that’d be a bargain in the long run. Ashley Young was given a one-year extension in February and nobody really knows why, but this transfer could force him out. Fantastic.

That’d be great news for United because they’ll have killed two birds with one stone. They need to get rid of deadwood like Young and bring in young talent like James who is willing to work hard and prove himself at the top level.

His sister lifted the Women’s Championship title for United this month, and who could blame him for following her to Manchester? Indeed, United should go for him this summer and build him up to be one of the country’s best full-backs, as he has the potential to become.

It’s a crunch summer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at United, despite it being his first, so he needs to make a statement that says things are going to change.

He can start that by bringing in James and pushing out Young.

We believe in you: Newcastle fans throw their support behind misfiring Muto

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle United signed Yoshinori Muto from Mainz last summer.

The 26-year-old arrived off the back of a 10-goal season in Germany, and having represented Japan at the 2018 World Cup.

It would be fair to say that Muto struggled to make his mark in England, though, scoring just once in 17 Premier League appearances during the 2018-19 campaign.

Muto only started five league fixtures for the Magpies, meanwhile, but he took to social media on Monday to thank for the club’s fans for their support.

It is not the worst move in the world after a difficult campaign, and as expected, the Newcastle supporters were out in their numbers to praise the attacker.

It remains to be seen whether Muto is able to make his mark in English football.

However, judging by the reaction of a number of Newcastle fans, he still has the support of the St James’ Park faithful.

Spurs fans brutally mock West Ham supporter’s ambitious tweet

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have brutally mocked a West Ham United supporter for suggesting that the club should appoint Diego Simeone as manager.

The Argentine, of course, is currently at Atletico Madrid, where he has won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Europa League, twice, and the UEFA Super Cup, twice.

The Hammers have endured an inconsistent season under Manuel Pellegrini this term and currently sit 11th in the Premier League, having won 12 and lost 15 of their 33 games since the start of the campaign.

One supporter, subsequently, has called on the club to consider the appointment of Simeone, a manager who has often been linked with a move away from the Spanish giants.

But Spurs fans have been quick to rip the opinion apart, insisting that a manager of the Argentine’s calibre would never so much as consider a move to the London Stadium.

Take a look at the best of the reaction below!

Aston Villa can afford to lose Jack Grealish as Spurs ponder another move

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham look set to revive their interest in Jack Grealish this summer according to the The Mirror. However, Aston Villa fans needn’t be too concerned about a possible sale.

What’s the word?

Spurs are planning to make Grealish a key target as they plan for the summer transfer window. This comes months after they failed in their pursuit of making him a Lilywhite before the current season began.

The north London club had tried to sign him from Villa on deadline day but they refused to sell him for any price, according to Sky Sports.

A fee of £25m had previously been quoted but it remains unclear as to what price Dean Smith’s men would command if Spurs did come back in for their prized asset.

It’s been reported by The Mirror that West Ham and Bournemouth are also interested.

McGinn more dependable?

Losing Grealish wouldn’t be disastrous and they should look to sell him whilst his stock is high. This is because of the form of John McGinn. The summer signing from Hibernian has had an exceptional first season in English football and has arguably been more dependable for the Villans in 2018/19.

Although Grealish scored the winning goal against Birmingham in the Second City derby this month, the Scot was one of the real game-changers and in recent matches with Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough has arguably outperformed his partner in midfield.

The 24-year-old has three more assists than Grealish this season and also has one extra goal to his name.

But it’s his more all-around game which makes him more important to the side than Grealish. As well as making inroads in attack, he contributes to the defensive phase of play too. No other player in the team has made more tackles per game than McGinn, a figure which stands at 2.2.

Villa have held off selling their star man for a long time now, but it seems as good a time as any to finally cash in on him.

Spurs fans on Twitter go into meltdown over warm-weather training

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been going into a meltdown on Twitter, as their club heads to Spain for a warm-weather training camp.

Many Spurs supporters learnt of what many of them are branding as a “holiday” less than two days after the shock Premier League defeat to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, one that left them 13 points off league leaders Manchester City and effectively ended their title challenge.

Clearly some fans are visibly aggrieved at the players getting some time away to train in better weather conditions – perhaps due to what happened after the last time Spurs went away on a warm-weather training camp, prior to the loss to Burnley.

Since then, Tottenham have gone winless in four league games, losing three and drawing one, leading many supporters to lose faith in the art of the training camp.

However, given that warm-weather training is such a huge part of the modern game with some clubs taking several trips every year and proving its effectiveness, some of the opinions from Spurs fans after the club confirmed the players arriving in Spain on Twitter are nothing short of ridiculous.

West Ham fans react to Andy Carroll departure rumour

[ad_pod ]

Hopeful West Ham United fans have been reacting on Twitter to news that striker Andy Carroll could be leaving at the end of the season when his contract at the London Stadium expires, per The Daily Mail.

Post-match comments made by Manuel Pellegrini after the defeat to Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon suggest that the injury-prone striker has another knock, having been left out of the matchday squad, and it’s not known when he will return.

Carroll has made just three league starts this campaign under the Chilean and with fans getting increasingly impatient with the tall forward’s injury record and poor form, it’s understood that the club are not so keen on renewing his contract at the end of 2018/2019. Not least because it would involve giving the 30-year-old a substantial pay rise.

Since joining the Hammers at the start of the 2012/2013 season, initially on loan, the 6 foot 4 frontman has made just 142 appearances and frustrated the club no end with his continuing injury woes.

This, coupled with the pay rise and the fact that he’s netted just once in all competitions in the best part of a year, fails to make a contract renewal an attractive proposition for Pellegrini.
