Punjab, resuming on 335 for 4, added 105 runs before declaring on 440 for 8. Harris Sohail missed his half-century by two runs, and Mohammad Zohaib and Raza Hasan played useful cameos of 23 and 27 runs respectively. Rahat Ali was the most successful bowler for Baluchistan; he took 5 for 138 in 35 overs. Baluchistan got off to a poor start, losing their openers with only 4 runs on the board. Rehan Rafiq, along with Saeed Anwar Junior, steadied the early wobble but both failed to capitalise on starts, and were dismissed by Khalil. Punjab kept picking up wickets and bowled Baluchistan out for 107. Baluchistan were 10 for 1 in their second innings at stumps.A century from Shan Masood, and half-centuries from Umar Amin and Babar Naeem, gave Federal Areas a lead of 248 at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province had to toil in the field, and only managed to take six wickets in the day, with Waqar Ahmed and Khalid Usman taking two each. Afaq Raheem and Masood resumed the day on 130 for 1. Raheem missed a century – he was dismissed for 83 – but Masood and Amin put together a 76-run partnership to take Federal Areas past Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s total of 205. Masood went on to score 127, and a quick 57 from Naeem cemented Federal Areas’ dominance. They ended the day on 453 for 7 and could extend their lead on the third day.

Com o comando de Valdir Bigode, os jogadores do Vasco voltaram a treinar na manhã desta quinta-feira, no CT das Vargens, em Vargem Pequena, Zona Oeste do Rio de Janeiro. Depois de dois dias com atividades na academia, o zagueiro Luiz Gustavo voltou a trabalhar em campo com os companheiros. Situação diferente a do também zagueiro Breno, que segue em processo de transição e continua como dúvida para o jogo de segunda-feira, contra o Ceará, em São Januário, pelo Campeonato Brasileiro.

A atividade desta sexta-feira será crucial para a definição sobre a disponibilidade ou não de Breno para o próximo jogo. A tendência é a de que o zagueiro seja preservado desta partida, com a dupla de zaga titular diante do Ceará sendo composta por Leandro Castan e Ricardo Graça. Luiz Gustavo, com a provável estreia de Lenon na lateral direita, deve ficar como opção no banco de reservas para as duas posições, já que é zagueiro de origem.

Tim Southee hopes New Zealand will build on their hammering of Zimbabwe and get to celebrate many more Test wins

In Hobart last December, after winning a Test in Australia for the first time in 26 years, New Zealand celebrated their achievement in a new way. The players strolled out to the pitch in their whites, sang a team song, and settled down to enjoy a few drinks to mark the moment. They did it again in Napier after hammering Zimbabwe. Tim Southee said the acting-captain Brendon McCullum was the brains behind the celebration and that New Zealand wanted to make it an often-repeated ritual.”It’s a pledge which has been around a long time,” Southee said. “Brendon McCullum has been driving it. It’s something we will make a tradition as Test wins keep coming.”Of their four Tests this summer, New Zealand have won three, and Southee hoped victory would become a habit for this team. “It’s a great thing to win Test matches. It’s an amazing feeling and we are slowly making a bit of a habit of it. Hopefully we can have this group of guys together for a long time and keep that winning feeling.”In each of those victories, New Zealand displayed a different aspect of their recent development: strong temperament in tight game in Bulawayo, the ability to beat some of the best in Hobart and ruthlessness in Napier. The innings-and-301-run victory at McLean Park could have been more emphatic if most of the second day had not been washed out.”If the rain hadn’t come it could have been all over in two days or two and a half days,” Southee said. “It was a dream day. Days like that are what you play Test cricket for. It was a great to have a win, and to win so convincingly and build on that game from Hobart.”Like they did at Bellerive Oval, New Zealand played four fast bowlers in Napier, on a pitch that assisted the quicks. Seventeen wickets fell to pace, eight of them to Chris Martin, as Zimbabwe were dismissed twice in a day. “We went with the four-seamer attack again. In the first innings everyone chipped in,” Southee said. “But, in the second innings, it was just an outstanding individual performance by Chris. The way he bowled showed there’s still a bit of kick in the old boy yet.”With Martin guiding the young bowlers such as Southee, Trent Boult and Doug Bracewell, Southee said New Zealand had a good balance. “The experience of the older guys and the excitement of the young guys mixed in is great. We are very excited about what the future holds.”The immediate future holds three ODIs and two Twenty20s against Zimbabwe before the series against South Africa, which Southee calls “the key of the summer,” starting with three T20s and three ODIs. The glut of limited-overs cricket means New Zealand will have to make a speedy adjustment to the format, and Southee was confident they would. “It wasn’t that long ago that we had a white ball in our hands and it shouldn’t take too long to adapt back to that,” he said. “It will just be a narrowing down of skills and practicing death and slower balls, change of pace and things like that.”New Zealand’s first ODI against Zimbabwe is in Dunedin on February 3.

أكد سليمان وهدان عضو مجلس إدارة نادي الزمالك، أنه سيخاطب وزارة الشباب والرياضة بشأن عزل مرتضي منصور رئيس القلعة البيضاء بعد تأييد حكم حبسه شهرًا في قضية سب محمود الخطيب رئيس الأهلي.

وقال وهدان خلال تصريحات لبرنامج الريمونتادا المذاع على قناة المحور: “المشهد في نادي الزمالك غريب على الرياضة المصرية، ولا تعليق على أحكام القضاء بالطبع، تحدثت مع أحمد مرتضى منصور وقلت له تولى مهمة القائم بالأعمال لكنه رفض وطالبني بأن أتولى تلك المهمة، وباقي أعضاء مجلس الإدارة وافقوا”.

وواصل: “رسالة لجمهور نادي الزمالك العظيم، نحن نريد العمل ولدينا مهام كبيرة جدًا، وفريق الكرة مستواه متراجع ونحتاج إلى صحوة، ومرتضى منصور قدم كثيرا لنادي الزمالك، وهو الرئيس التاريخي الذي حقق العديد من البطولات”.

وتابع: “لن نترك مرتضي منصور خاصة أنه لم يتم الحكم عليه في جريمة مخلة بالشرف أو سرقة، والشهر السجن سيمر، وهناك مزايدات كبيرة جدا على مجلس إدارة نادي الزمالك ولن نقبل بها”.

وأكمل: “لابد من الحفاظ على كافة الأندية الموجودة والتنافس يكون رياضيًا، وجمهور الزمالك جمهور عظيم وتحمل الكثير ومر بمحن كثيرة وسنخرج من هذه الكبوة ونعود لمنصات التتويج”.

وأردف: “سنخاطب وزارة الشباب والرياضة وسنبلغ الوزارة بأننا لن نسقط عضوية مرتضى منصور، إسقاط عضوية أي فرد اختصاص أصيل لمجلس الإدارة ولذلك سنخاطب وزارة الشباب والرياضة بشأن هذا الأمر، الزمالك نادي تاريخي له مشجعين ليس في مصر فقط ولكن في الوطن العربي بأكمله”.

واستطرد: “شريف حسين سيتولى مهمة التعامل مع الجهات الإدارية خلال الفترة المقبلة وسنبلغ وزارة الشباب والرياضة بذلك، أرفض فكرة التصويت على الشخص الذي سيقوم برئاسة النادي خلال الفترة المقبلة، ولكن إذا أجمع المجلس على شخصي بالأغلبية سأقوم برئاسة النادي لكني أرفض فكرة التصويت”.

وأتم: “قمت بزيارة مرتضى منصور بالسجن وهو ذهب للمستشفى لأن الضغط ارتفع عليه لمدة 5 أو 6 ساعات وأشكر الفريق الطبي على التعامل معه وهو ويعامل أفضل معاملة وجلست معه لمدة ساعتين، وطلب مني أن أبلغ كل محبي ومشجعي الزمالك بأنه سيعود”.

England produced world-class death bowling coupled with moments of brilliance in the field to snatch a five-run victory in the deciding Twenty20 against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and seal the series 2-1. With Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal together, needing 35 off the last five overs, Pakistan were in control but Stuart Broad and Jade Dernbach showed nerves of steel to finish the tour on a high.Broad bowled the 16th and 19th overs which cost just four runs apiece and that included a misfield by Jonny Bairstow at long-on in the penultimate over which gave away a boundary. Broad removed Akmal, who skied a catch to long-off after missing the first two balls of the 19th over, and Bairstow redeemed himself in the last with a powerful throw to Craig Kieswetter which found Shahid Afridi short of his crease.Dernbach, who bowled the 17th over for six runs, was left with 13 to play with for the last and was in control except when a slower ball looped out short to be called wide. That left Pakistan needing eight off three deliveries but Hammad Azam and Misbah could only muster two singles before a trademark slower ball from Dernbach castled Misbah and set of wild celebrations from the bowler.The series win, a notable result for Broad who is still in his infancy as a captain, will give the England squad a significant surge of confidence ahead of their title defence at the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka. Their remaining T20s before that tournament are all at home, so success in conditions similar – if not identical – to Sri Lanka will have provided a wealth of knowledge especially for the younger players.Misbah, meanwhile, could well face further criticism after ending with 28 off 32 balls but it should have been the anchor innings to guide his side home. Only in the final four overs did the asking rate hit eight-an-over and some of Akmal’s wild heaves to leg didn’t show very clear thinking. It had been difficult to hit boundaries all evening – the match produced 15 fours and three sixes – and huge credit must go to England’s bowlers and fielders. Graeme Swann built pressure for the quicks with a guileful spell and Jos Buttler, having endured a poor series with the bat, manufactured a wicket with a flat throw that was superbly collected by Kieswetter to remove the well-set Asad Shafiq.It is a fine line batsmen tread in Twenty20. For the failure of Misbah to get his side across the line there is the success of Kevin Pietersen after his unbeaten 62, made from a sedate 52 balls, gave England a defendable total. It was clear early on that this wasn’t a 150 pitch and Pietersen judged it was better to stay until the end than aim too high. Samit Patel contributed a spritely 16 and Pietersen finished the innings with a last-ball six off Aizaz Cheema which ultimately proved the difference.What Eoin Morgan would give for some of Pietersen’s end-of-tour form. His last innings of the trip was a tortured affair, as many of the 16 before this one had also been. He chipped short of long-off against Afridi on 6 and should have been stumped on 8 as Akmal added another error to a long list. But this one didn’t prove costly although Morgan was left cursing a team-mate rather than himself. Pietersen drove firmly to cover, where Misbah fumbled, and didn’t adhere to the adage of “don’t run on a misfield”, leaving Morgan stuffed when he changed his mind again.Bairstow couldn’t repeat his showing from two days ago as he misjudged the length against Saeed Ajmal, who claimed 4 for 23, and England’s other young middle-order batsman, Buttler, had another tough innings. He scored four runs off the nine combined deliveries he faced from Ajmal and Afridi and was then given lbw against Ajmal playing a sweep that left him on his knees in the crease. This tour hasn’t launched Buttler’s international career as it appeared it could do but he can still make the World Twenty20.Crucially, however, Umar Gul had a poor day. Trying to react to Pietersen’s movement in the crease, he conceded five wides down the leg side and, in his final over, sprayed another wide outside off stump with Pietersen proceeding to hit the seventh ball to the midwicket boundary. That’s all it takes to change a tight Twenty20.

Cuca usou a entrevista coletiva desta sexta-feira para desmentir a recusa a estrangeiros no Santos. Segundo ele, a negativa a Marco Rubén, do Rosario Central, foi apenas por questões de características e não de nacionalidade. O técnico garantir ter indicado o argentino Nicolás Blandi, do San Lorenzo, à direção santista, e também o boliviano com nacionalidade brasileira Marcelo Moreno.

Agora, a responsabilidade é apenas da diretoria.

Cuca também se mostrou avesso à atitude do Santos em pedir que o árbitro Rodopho Toski Marques não apite mais seus jogos após polêmica no final da partida contra o Cruzeiro. O paranaense apitou o fim do jogo antes do cronômetro bater os 50 minutos e no exato momento em que o Peixe iniciava um contra-ataque com Victor Ferraz e Gabriel. A atitude provocou a ira da diretoria, mas o treinador tratou o manifesto como exagerado.

– Eu acho que é um bom árbitro, apitou bem, um dos novos e dos melhores. Deve apitar jogo nosso na sequência. Vai ter erro normal como todos têm. Não posso acreditar que tenha ocorrido má fé. Foi infelicidade, mas é bom árbitro. Não podemos colocar rótulo nele. É uma dor que temos, a diretoria representa dor de todos, em especial do torcedor, mas temos que falar que é bom árbitro. Vai seguir e passar por cima tranquilo – finalizou.

Tamim Iqbal, one of Bangladesh’s top batsmen, has said he had no idea that the national coach Stuart Law was going to resign. He was talking hours after Law announced his decision to quit as Bangladesh coach.”I’m completely taken by surprise,” Tamim told ESPNcricinfo. “But family comes first.” Law was stepping down less than a month after guiding Bangladesh to the final of the Asia Cup.Tamim said Law had added to the professionalism brought in by his predecessors as coach, the Australian pair of Dav Whatmore and Jamie Siddons. “Law gave us the belief that we can do it,” Tamim said. “And that only pumped up the players. He used to give us tremendous amount of confidence. A team like us needs the confidence and he always supported us.”The relationship between a coach and the players takes time to develop usually and with Stuey, we were almost there. Everyone was enjoying his presence in the dressing room and he was enjoying being with us as well.”Tamim also gave a personal example of Law’s influence. “When I was going through a rough patch during the Pakistan series (last December) he kept pushing me to work hard. There is one line I can never forget. He said: ‘Someone is hurt now and someone will be hurt in the Asia Cup.'” Tamim made four half-centuries in four matches in the Asia Cup and finished as the second-highest run-maker in the tournament.Tamim said he was also disappointed as he felt Law’s departure was a bit of a backward step for Bangladesh cricket. “We will miss him definitely.
