The race for the top four in the Premier League is heating up heading into the final few matches of the 2021/22 season but for Tottenham Hotspur, it doesn’t get trickier than this evening.

Antonio Conte’s side travel to Merseyside to face an in-form and title-chasing Liverpool team at Anfield, who too are in need of points to keep the pressure on Manchester City, who were knocked out of the Champions League in agonising fashion in midweek.

Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old winger has previously been described as a “nightmare” to train against by team-mate Eric Dier, but we’ve seen anything but that from Moura in 2022, with his last league goal coming back in December.

Moura has also provided two assists since Boxing Day, despite only failing to make two appearances in that time.

Furthermore, Kulusevski is clear for creating chances, even if they do not get converted into a goal – his average of 1.6 key passes per game eclipses Moura by 0.7.

Therefore, it should be a no-brainer for Conte to make the ruthless call to axe Moura from the starting XI up against Liverpool. If there’s any game where he’ll go missing, it’s certainly this one. He is just not good enough to start for Tottenham.

Their captain Daren Ganga dedicated the victory to former West Indies opener, Joey Carew, who died earlier this month.”When we heard about the passing of Joey Carew, we felt it was very important to pay respect to a man who changed the face of local cricket,” Ganga said. “There’s no better way that we could have done it than to give him this send off and dedicate this Caribbean T20 victory to him.”Carew played 19 Tests in a decade-long career that ended in 1972, and also served as a selector for West Indies cricket for 20 years, on and off, retiring from the post in 2006.T&T were without their two biggest stars, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, for the entire tournament but still came out on top. They caught the imagination with their brand of attacking cricket during their run to the final of the inaugural Champions League in 2009, and Ganga targeted the title this time.”The journey has now begun. Where on any given day, a team that is highly-favoured, generously-rated, strongly-supported could find its plans, dreams and ambitions, upended. To whittle down the company that West Indies keep along with India, South Africa, England, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands into four quarter-finalists is tougher than getting Sreesanth to separate his bowling from his bravado.West Indies’ allrounder Dwayne Bravo, though, has a different point of view, “I have no doubt in my mind we are going to qualify for the second round. And obviously, take it from there.” It is a declaration through which Bravo has painted a target on his back two days before he gets out on the Ferozshah Kotla to play West Indies’ first World Cup match against South Africa. Bravo did so by dismissing the idea that his team’s group was tougher than the one made up of Sri Lanka, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Canada. “It’s an open tournament and both groups have teams who can spring surprises and that’s what the World Cup wants – one of the big teams being surprised by one of the under-rated teams.”West Indies are one of those under-rated teams, particularly since the last time they beat a Test team in an ODI was in June 2009. They may be in the same corner of a debate, but Bravo believes they must also share a common load in the World Cup. Not just because they are IPL regulars but also due to their all-round abilities. “Allrounders are very important in this part of the world and we have four top-quality allrounders. The captain Darren Sammy is one, Kieron Pollard, myself and Chris Gayle. On any given day if two of us out of the four have a good day, the West Indies will be in a good position to win games.”The IPL’s insider information was not going to be enormous, Bravo said, because “it’s the same information that Graeme Smith or J P Duminy will have.” What could give the West Indians a slight advantage was the similarity of the conditions in the sub-continent to their home pitches, but this, too, only when compared to “some of the other teams who play on hard bouncy surfaces.”Once we play properly and execute our plans properly, that obviously is going to come into play… knowing India, spin and slow-medium play a big part and we will also take that into consideration.”The West Indies’ recent form and rankings were dismissed as ‘history’ with Bravo distilling the news, the noise and the predictions into one simple idea: “This is a new tournament in a different setting. Each team starts with zero points and every team has an opportunity to win the World Cup.”The match against South Africa will be the first ‘marquee’ contest of the World Cup not featuring any of the home teams. The West Indies would want to light a few fires under a few chairs in their group, “because we have to begin well…we don’t want to be in the middle of the tournament where we are trying to play catch up cricket. We are not in a position where we can take it easy at the moment as we are rebuilding and trying to get back into winning ways… this tournament is important to us and the people of the Caribbean.”The people of the Caribbean will no doubt also keep Bravo’s promise of a quarter-final spot in mind.

Na semifinal do Paulistão, o Corinthians precisava de pelo menos um gol para levar a disputa contra o São Paulo para os pênaltis. O Timão não conseguiu uma boa atuação na Arena, mas não se assustou e viu Rodriguinho marcar de cabeça já nos acréscimos.

Os três exemplos mostram a frieza que o Corinthians tem para reverter as adversidades. E também como Rodriguinho tem sido decisivo para a equipe.

O Corinthians não se assusta. Como o técnico Fábio Carille costuma dizer, o Timão “sabe sofrer”. Mesmo pressionada, a equipe tem frieza para buscar as jogadas e consegue marcar os gols necessários.

Carille também gosta de dizer que isso é fruto do trabalho, porque todos os jogadores sabem o que fazer em campo, independentemente das situações da partida. Até agora, tem dado certo: o Timão conquistou o Paulistão, estreou com vitória no Brasileirão e lidera o Grupo 7 da Libertadores. Tudo isso graças à frieza da equipe e a Rodriguinho.

Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh captain, has said it is not difficult for his team to qualify for the World Cup quarter-finals and they could even go further. “We have been playing good cricket for the last 15 months, and if we qualify for the second round, why not think of something big,” Shakib said. “We have to win at least four matches to win a place in the second round. It is not difficult. I think we are capable of booking a place in the second round.”Bangladesh will go in to the World Cup ranked among the top eight teams in ODIs, and have the advantage of playing all their group games at home. Their No. 8 ICC ranking is justification of their recent form; they won two home series in 2010, beating Zimbabwe 3-1 and New Zealand 4-0, and pushed England close in an away series, losing 2-1.While Bangladesh have been giant-killers in past World Cups, beating India and South Africa in 2007, and Pakistan in 1999, their most experienced player, Mohammad Ashraful, says this time the side is firmly aiming at reaching the quarter-finals rather than looking for a few upsets.”Things are now very different to what it was in 2007,” Ashraful, who will take part in his third World Cup in the 2011 tournament, said. “In that World Cup, we were hoping for an upset or two, but this time around we are firmly aiming for the quarter-finals. There is a significant change in the mentality.”Shakib, though, said there has not been any drastic change in the way his side sees themselves. “I don’t feel that there is anything special in terms of attitude,” he said. “Ever since I started playing cricket, I have been playing to win, and I play with the same mentality now, whoever the opposition.”Three victories may be enough for Bangladesh to go past the group stage, since four out of seven teams qualify from each group. Two of their matches will be against Associate teams Ireland and Netherlands, in which they will be favourites. Shahriar Nafees, who will be playing his second World Cup, said the team was confident of dealing with it. “People handle pressure in different ways; some thrive under it, some play their best when they don’t have it,” he said. “But there is a stern belief within this side because we are finally winning. We know that at home we are considerably tough opposition.”While Bangladesh’s surprise success in the 2006-07 World Cup gave cricket a boost in the country, it was not until the last two years that the results improved. In the period between the last World Cup and the end of 2008, they won just five out of 34 ODIs. Since the start of 2009, though, they have maintained a win/loss ratio of 1.00 in 46 matches.Ashraful points to a victory over Sri Lanka in January 2009, in a tri-nation tournament, as the turning point in Bangladesh’s fortunes. After fast bowlers Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain had skittled out Sri Lanka for 147, Ashraful and Shakib had put together a century partnership to help Bangladesh recover from 11 for 3, the latter making an unbeaten 92.”During that game, I had a feeling things were changing,” says Ashraful. “Previously we were happy just competing with the big teams, but that day there was a feeling prevalent that we will be able to beat the big teams if we played to our true potential.” Ashraful’s own form has been on a downward spiral since that series and, after averaging just 14.66 in the first half of 2010, he found himself dropped for the series against New Zealand and given just one match in the one against Zimbabwe. He was quick to acknowledge the recent success of the team has been built on their younger players, saying “there are other match-winners coming through.”Nafees is another player who, like Ashraful, has struggled to live up to his early promise, and, after signing with the ICL kept him out of international cricket for a year, has only played four ODIs in the last two years. He said the development of Bangladesh cricket is an on-going process and previous captains have added to it as well. “It is like a relay race,” Nafees said. “[Habibul] Bashar and his team had bought the team to a certain level and Shakib is now carrying it on. We are moving forward, that is unquestionable.”Bangladesh will kick off the World Cup with a home fixture against India on February 19.

وأكمل: “اليوم فزنا وبيننا وبين قمة الدوري نقطتين، أرى أن مباراة اليوم لم تكن جيدة بالنسبة لنا، وطالما نلعب ونفوز نكسب ثقة أكثر، ولكن يجب أن يفهم اللاعبون أن الزمالك لا يجب أن يستريح في أي دقيقة من أي مباراة”.

وأوضح: “في الشوط الأول كان حرس الحدود يقف في الدفاع وكنا نجد صعوبة في خلق المساحات، عكس الشوط الثاني تقدموا ولذلك خلقنا فرص خلفهم”.

وأردف: “الجزيري ما زال يُعاني من الإرهاق حتى من قبل كأس العالم، ونحن عندنا لاعبين آخرين نريد أن ندفع بهم، أمامنا مباريات كثيرة واللاعبون يجب أن يكونوا جاهزين”.

واستطرد: “أي لاعب يريد أن يلعب ركلة الجزاء، أنا كمدرب على الخط أريد أن ألعب ركلة الجزاء، وكذلك الحال للعشرة لاعبين، خاصة وأن النتيجة 3-0، يوجد تسلسل في تسديد ركلات الجزاء، وهذه مواقف عادية تحدث في كرة القدم، لكن المشكلة الحقيقية لو توجد ركلة جزاء ولا أحد يريد أن يلعبها”.

وتابع: “سامسون ما زال في مستوى أقل من الآخرين، لا أتحدث عن المستوى الفني ولكن أتحدث عن المقدرة”.

وأفاد: “عندنا 3 رؤوس حربة، الموسم الماضي كان عندنا رأس حربة واحد، يوسف حسن بدأ التدريبات منذ فترة قريبة، عمره 19 عامًا، يجب أن يكتسب الثقة المطلوبة لكي يُشارك، الجزيري الجميع يعرفه لكنه يحتاج وقتًا للاستشفاء، وسامسون يتدرب منذ 3 أسابيع، ورغم ذلك نحن أكثر فريق أحرز أهدافًا”.

وأشار: “هناك مدربون يُفضلون أن يكون عندهم 10 مهاجمين، لكن هذا كثير، أنا لا أحب ذلك”.

وأتم: “نداي وشلبي مع الجهاز الطبي وهو من سيحسم عودتهم”.
