Cuca já tem a base do time que escalará no dia 9 de agosto, contra o Barcelona (EQU), na decisão da vaga às quartas de finais da Libertadores. Dos 11 que começaram a partida de sábado, contra o Avaí, o técnico tem duas dúvidas: sobre a utilização de Thiago Santos e a condição de Guerra, que saiu no primeiro tempo, com dores na coxa direita.

Caso o venezuelano não tenha lesão, a escalação é: Jailson; Mayke, Mina, Luan e Egídio; Bruno Henrique, Jean e Guerra (Thiago Santos); Róger Guedes, Dudu e Deyverson. Na quarta, contra o Botafogo, será o último teste deste time antes da Libertadores, e provavelmente com Thiago como titular.

A intenção do treinador era, no decorrer do último jogo tirar provavelmente Jean para a entrada de Thiago Santos e assim testar a equipe com um jogador mais marcador. Iniciar sem um atleta assim foi uma opção pela estratégia do Avaí, que jogou mais fechado. Com a vantagem do empate, o Barcelona deve realizar algo parecido no Allianz Parque.

– Quando você coloca o time assim (contra o Avaí), nota o quanto vai te fazer falta um volante ou não. No caso o Thiago (Santos). Era jogo para talvez eu ter posto um pouco ele se não perco o Mina. Ia tirar um volante, colocar o Thiago e adianta o Bruno (Henrique) para ter uma noção, mas faço isso no próximo jogo, para que a gente possa ir fortalecido ao Rio e ter uma ideia mais firme. Depois poupo o time ou parte dele contra o Atlético-PR – explicou o comandante.

Na última vitória fora de casa, contra o Sport, o Verdão jogou com Thiago, Jean e Bruno Henrique no meio-campo e foi bem. Raphael Veiga é outra opção para a armação, caso Guerra fique fora. Mas embora tenha entrado bem nas últimas duas partidas, o camisa 20 dificilmente começará o jogo da Libertadores. Moisés, que está praticamente recuperado de uma cirurgia no joelho, é outra opção também remota, caso Guerra não jogue.

O Verdão terá dois dias de treinos antes de enfrentar o Bota, pela 18ª rodada do Brasileiro. Depois, inicia os preparativos para a Libertadores. No domingo, o último jogo do primeiro turno, contra o Atlético-PR, no Allianz Parque, já deve ser com uma equipe bastante modificada.

O clube ainda vai divulgar sua programação, mas a primeira parte dos treinos para o dia 9 será na Academia de Futebol. Nos últimos dias, Cuca e o elenco vão se concentrar em Atibaia, como já ocorreu algumas vezes em 2016. Após perder por 1 a 0 em Guayaquil, o time precisa ganhar por dois gols de diferença para se classificar na Libertadores, a principal meta do Verdão no ano.

At the age of just 18, Tottenham Hotspur’s academy defender Maksim Paskotsi has already become a regular for his national side, Estonia.

He’s yet to break through into the first team under Nuno Santo, though he has made his senior debut this campaign after featuring regularly during pre-season, but he could be someone that saves the north Londoners a lot of money in the future.

Capable of playing in the middle, as well as on the right, Paskotski has clinched nine caps since March 2021 and this week, he impressed to help Thomas Häberli’s side to a clean sheet against Belarus before being defeated by Joe Rodon and Gareth Bale’s Wales side.

The Spurs teenager was deployed at right-back in the former clash, where he provided one key pass (only bettered by two players on the whole pitch), made four clearances and registered two tackles, as per WhoScored.

His performance caught the eye of the Lilywhites faithful, many of whom were left swooning over the emerging talent in their youth ranks.

Some called for him to be promoted into the first-team setup, whilst others claimed he was better than Matt Doherty – and even Sergio Ramos, as relayed by The Boot Room.

The latter reaction may be a little far-fetched at this stage but there’s no reason that Paskotsi shouldn’t be involved in Nuno’s senior side in some form. After all, they remain in all cup competitions and will have plenty of fixtures ahead thanks to the UEFA Conference League.

His versatility could be very useful to Nuno as he’s able to provide cover for their central defensive options, whilst being a firm choice to rival Japhet Tanganga and the rarely-used Matt Doherty behind Emerson Royal at right-back.

The young Estonian beast is shades of Jan Vertonghen in this sense and that’s the sort of player that the Portuguese is currently lacking in defence – someone capable of filling in wherever and whenever he’s needed.

He’s somewhat been a big goal threat, too, having found the net five times in 20 appearances for the U18s since arriving from FC Flora Tallinn. Again, further comparisons could be made to the Belgian utility defender.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig once dubbed him “one of the most talented players in Estonia” and likened his playing style to Manchester United’s summer signing Raphael Varane, with the teen’s key attributes being tackling and intercepting, pace and aerial ability.

Whether he’s half the player of either, Spurs will be getting one hell of a talent, should Nuno unleash him in the senior side anytime soon.

Paskotsi could be his very own Varane.

The Twenty20 tournament was shifted to South Africa after the Indian government said it could not guarantee adequate security because of a clash of dates with the country’s general elections.”We could have done it [held the tournament in India], but only if they [IPL officials] had reflected on the concerns of the police and not tried to pressurise the [state] chief ministers,” Chidambaram told the news channel CNN-IBN. “I am not letting out any secret by that. If they had only listened to the concerns of the police, this tournament could have been played in two parts. First the league part and then give a break for the critical three or four week period and then the knock-out part.””But they were trying to be too clever by putting the pressure on chief ministers and ultimately the police told the chief ministers that ‘sorry, we cannot provide security’.”However, the IPL organisers had said that it was not possible to play the tournament in two parts because of a clash with the World Twenty20 in England in June and a packed international schedule thereafter. The IPL was initially scheduled to be held in India between April 10 and May 24; it will now start in South Africa on April 18.

David Moyes’ men took a giant leap towards finishing top by beating the Belgian giants this evening.

Indeed, they have gone six points clear with their victory and, as per the new Europa League format, potentially finishing as group victors will guarantee West Ham a spot straight into the last 16.

Moyes rested a fair few first teamers tonight with the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, Nikola Vlasic, Alphonse Areola and Dawson all coming in after the weekend victory at Everton.

Among all of these fresh faces, it was the latter man who garnered real praise on Twitter for his display – especially considering he opened the floodgates with his towering first half header.

شدد المدرب الإيطالي، كارلو أنشيلوتي، المدير الفني لنادي ريال مدريد، على أن فريقه لن ينخدع بالهزيمة الكبيرة التي تلقاها فريق آينتراخت فرانكفورت من بايرن ميونخ، وذلك خلال حديثه أمام وسائل الإعلام قبل مباراة السوبر الأوروبي.

ويُقام السوبر الأوروبي بين ريال مدريد وآينتراخت فرانكفورت، مساء غد الأربعاء على ملعب “هلنسكي الأولمبي”، وتنطلق المباراة في تمام الساعة التاسعة مساءً بتوقيت القاهرة، العاشرة بتوقيت مكة المُكرمة.

وقال أنشيلوتي في المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص بالمباراة: “هزيمة فرانكفورت 6-1 من بايرن ميونخ؟ لم أر تلك المباراة والنتيجة لن تخدعنا”.

A noite da última quarta-feira certamente vai ficar marcada para sempre na memória de Vinicius Jr. Além de ter feito seu primeiro gol pelos profissionais, entrou para história, sendo o primeiro atleta nascido nos anos 2000 a marcar em uma competição sul-americana. O camisa 20 falou sobre a comemoração.

– Meu pai sempre falava nos jogos: “Vai sair hoje, vai sair hoje”. Ontem ele falou e não deu outra. Levou todo mundo da família para o jogo e depois jantamos para comemorar. Todo mundo saiu feliz.

No elenco, Vinicius é tratado como um xodó por todos e falou sobre os bastidores. O garoto citou os amigos da base e também a tranquilidade que Diego passa para ele no dia a dia.

– Ser o xodó é tranquilo. O grupo brinca bastante eles me ajudam muito, Vizeu, Paquetá e Thiago sempre estão juntos. Diego sempre me passa tranquilidade. Desde que cheguei me passaram confiança e quando chegar no mano a mano ir pra cima. Todo mundo ajuda. Vizeu me dá muita força quando estou um pouco desanimado.

Com a possibilidade da chegada de Reinaldo Rueda e também com o futuro no Real Madrid, Vinicius ainda não está muito entrosado com o espanhol e arriscou duas frases apenas.

Não sei muito bem não. Só “buenos días” e “buenas tardes” (risos). Conversei com Berrío, e ele falou que é um cara que preza o grupo. Faz bastante reduzido com a bola e dá moral para quem veio da base.

The Australian opener, whose only previous tour to England was with the New South Wales Under-17 team, compiled three County Championship centuries and insists the exposure to local pitch conditions and bowlers will serve him well ahead of the five-Test series.”I thoroughly enjoyed it and the preparation has been great,” Hughes told AAP. “The big thing that came out of it was that I played at three Test grounds I’m going to be playing on and got to experience them before this big series coming up.”Lord’s was my home ground there for Middlesex and I played at The Oval as well and Edgbaston.
