Sachin Tendulkar will not play the five-ODI series in Sri Lanka after sustaining an injury to his left elbow during the third Test in Colombo. S Badrinath, the Tamil Nadu batsman, will be his replacement.”I spoke to Sachin and the team physio [Nitin Patel] this morning and I can confirm that Tendulkar has been ruled out of action for two to three weeks,” Ratnakar Shetty, the BCCI’s chief administrative officer, told Cricinfo.Tendulkar had jarred his elbow while attempting a catch in the 47th over of Sri Lanka’s first innings on Saturday, and was quickly taken off. An MRI scan revealed a swelling, and Tendulkar didn’t take the field for the rest of the innings. However, he did bat in India’s second innings on Sunday, though two places below his customary No. 4 position. Tendulkar was out for 14, which still leaves him 77 short of surpassing Brian Lara as the leading run-getter in Tests.After missing the Asia Cup in Pakistan due to a groin injury, Tendulkar had been named in the ODI squad for Sri Lanka as well as the Champions Trophy in Pakistan which takes place in September. His last one-day match was the second final of the Commonwealth Bank Series against Australia in Brisbane in March 2008.Badrinath confirmed his call-up to the national team, and will leave for Sri Lanka on Wednesday. “Yes, I got a call to join the team for the Sri Lanka series and I’m leaving day after,” he told Cricinfo. Badrinath said though the Muttiah Muralitharan-Ajantha Mendis spin combination was a testing one, he had the advantage of having faced Murali at the Chennai Super Kings nets during the Indian Premier League earlier this year.”The injury to Tendulkar is sad and it is very hard to step into his shoes,” Badrinath told the . “I am looking forward to the challenge of playing to the best of my ability. I have worked on my strokes, the innovations over the years. I have picked wickets for my club Jolly Rovers in the TNCA first division league with my off spin. Fielding and fitness are always high on my priority list.”The five-match series will be played from August 18-29.

Former All Leeds TV presenter Joe Wainman has tipped Leeds United to make a deadline day move for Nahitan Nandez after the midfielder’s move to Inter Milan appeared to collapse.

Nandez has been high on Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa’s wishlist since the transfer window opened and Corriere dello Sport reported the Whites were close to agreeing a £31million deal with Cagliari in June.

But the Yorkshire club were dealt a blow as Italian giants Inter entered the race for the midfielder’s services and, according to FC Inter News, Nandez made the San Siro his preferred destination.

The report revealed Nandez had already agreed personal terms, including a four-year contract, with the reigning Serie A champions.

However, the transfer saga took another shock turn when, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport via Semprinter, talks with Inter broke down earlier this week.

Wainman believes the 25-year-old Uruguay international, who made 34 appearances for Cagliari last term, could still head to Elland Road.

The JustJoe Football Show anchorman told The Transfer Tavern: “If Inter Milan can’t secure the signature of Nandez and it gets to deadline day, a move could happen.

“I think Leeds are waiting for changes in the market and a call from the agent or club to say he’s available. They might pounce then.

“We didn’t bring in Raphinha or Diego Llorente until late in the window last year because they became available at really cheap prices. If that happens with Nandez, why not?”

The man in Flintoff’s sights was the lynchpin of South Africa’s innings, Jacques Kallis, and then as now, the bowler was fuelled by the raw anger of injustice. Alternating yorkers and bouncers with a skill and aggression that is the preserve of few, Flintoff’s Donald moment arrived with the fifth ball of his onslaught, when he struck Kallis flush on the toe with a ball that could only have demolished middle stump. Aleem Dar saw differently, and a livid Flintoff spent the whole of the next over telling the umpire what he thought while ticking like a timebomb at square leg. Kallis summoned all of his skill to survive Flintoff’s next four balls, but the fifth was too good. The seeds of Flintoff’s fury were sown during a luckless morning session. In the seventh over of the day Neil McKenzie, on 29, was given the first of two vital reprieves. Flintoff found the perfect line on off stump, with a shade of away movement, and McKenzie’s angled defensive skidded low off the edge and into Andrew Strauss’s hands at first slip. Immediately, however, there was doubt in Strauss’s eyes, unquestionably as a result of the Vaughan/de Villiers controversy in the Headingley Test. Replays suggested that the ball might have bounced up off Strauss’s fingertips and into the palms of his hands, but in the current climate, he wasn’t about to risk accusations of gamesmanship. McKenzie’s second let-off was a much more clear-cut affair, and no prizes for guessing the culprit. He would normally have guzzled the low edge that flew to his right at second slip, as Flintoff pounded in in search of his 200th Test wicket. Instead – and unsurprisingly – his mind had drifted to other weightier matters and the chance went down. McKenzie had made 57 by this stage, and England’s hopes of clawing their way back into contention had taken another battering.Catch of the day
If the fielders can’t do the job for you, then sometimes a bowler has no option but to do it all himself. That’s precisely the route that James Anderson took, in a moment of commitment that hinted at the dramas to come. A sharp inducker grazed the inside edge of Hashim Amla’s bat, rebounded off the pad-flap, and ballooned out towards the vacant silly point. Anderson sized up the situation in an instant, veered sideways in his follow-through, and hurtled across the pitch to launch himself one-handed towards the turf. He scooped the ball inches from the ground, but this time, the catch was clear-cut enough to prevent the South Africans from marching out of the pavilion to instruct their man to stay put.Milestone of the day
Flintoff may have struck with his second ball of the match last night, but with McKenzie leading a charmed life, he needed another 13 overs to double his tally today. It looked for a while as though McKenzie was going to escape his clutches for good, as he whipped and drove two fours for consecutive balls move into the 70s, but with his very next ball, Flintoff roared back in to pin him lbw with a perfectly pitched inswinger. The wicket was his 200th in Test cricket, although the pedants will point out that only 193 of those have been taken for England (seven came for the Rest of the World against the Aussies in 2005). Still, his efforts ensured he became the tenth man to do the double of 3000 runs and 200 wickets. Curiously, his tally of two five-wicket hauls was the fewest by any bowler with that many wickets to their name.Batsman of the day
It’s been a quiet tour for Kallis – with the bat, at any rate. He’s cut a slightly forlorn figure out in the middle in the first two Tests, mustering scores of 7, 13 and 4 while each of his top-order colleagues has racked up at least one century. But Kallis’s commitment in this innings was a replay of his glory years. A pair of unbeaten half-centuries against Bangladesh A got him back into the groove last week, and after a few quiet jibes about his weight in the early part of this trip, his extra commitment in training has been notable. The upshot was a wholehearted 64, a performance that lifted South Africa from a dicey 135 for 4 to a potentially vital first-innings lead. His stay was ended only by a performance that is already sure to go down in folklore.

وتابع: “لابد من تعيين مُتحدث رسمي لاتحاد الكرة، لا يصح أن يتحدث 9 أشخاص في وقت واحد، ويجب أن يبتعد جمال علام عن ملف كرة القدم نهائيًا”.

وتطرق للحديث عن رحيل الجنوب إفريقي بيتسو موسيماني عن الأهلي، قائلًا: “العلاقة بينهما وصلت إلى طريق مسدود وكان ذلك واضحًا”.

وأردف: “موسيماني ظن أنه ما زال يدرب صن داونز ولن ينتقده أحد، وسيمجد فيه الناس عندما يفوز ببطولة”.

واستأنف: “موسيماني خسر أوضة اللبس في الأهلي وخسر لاعبين أيضًا خلال انتقاده لهم، مثل محمد شريف وحسام حسن”.

واختتم: “مستوى الأهلي في الفترة الأخيرة ضعيف جدًا مع موسيماني، والمدرب كان يقدم أسوأ فترة له مع الأهلي، لذلك توقيت رحيله مناسب”.

Things are certainly looking on the up at QPR at present, with Mark Warburton having overseen a wonderful summer transfer window at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, while the 58-year-old’s side remain unbeaten in the Championship following their first three fixtures of the season.

However, with Moses Odubajo being sent off after receiving two yellow cards in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Middlesbrough, and Lee Wallace being withdrawn late on in the same game due to injury, Warburton could be facing a selection headache at full-back for the visit of Barnsley this lunchtime.

While summer signing Sam McCallum is yet to make his debut for the club after being sidelined due to illness, from which the 20-year-old has now reportedly recovered, the Barnsley match would appear to be the perfect time for the QPR boss to unleash the left-back.

When considering his form for Coventry City last season, the £3.15m-rated defender would not simply just be filling in for either Odubajo or Wallace, but it could easily be argued that the Norwich City loanee would actually be an upgrade on either player.

Indeed, over his 41 Championship appearances for Mark Robins’ side last term, the £5k-per-week left-back made an average of 1.9 interceptions, 2.1 tackles, 1.6 clearances and won 7.2 duels per game. McCallum also impressed going forwards, scoring one goal, registering two assists and creating three big chances for his Sky Blues teammates, as well as averaging 0.7 key passes per match.

These metrics saw the man who Warburton dubbed a “quality” player earn an average SofaScore match rating of 6.92, ranking him as Coventry’s second-best performer in the second tier of English football.

Odubajo has averaged a hugely disappointing SofaScore match rating of 6.10 over his three Championship appearances so far this season, while Wallace – aside from a decent display against Hull City – has also been average for QPR this term. Therefore, the introduction of McCallum could well make a big impact for the Rs – something the 58-year-old manager himself predicted upon the 20-year-old’s signing.

He will be replaced by opening batsman Jahurul Islam.
