The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger Brathwaite as its new Chief Marketing Executive, effective 17th May, 2002.Brathwaite, a 45-year-old Barbadian, brings a wealth of experience in senior management and global marketing to the post formerly held by Chris Dehring, who is now Chief Executive Officer of Windies World Cup 2007 Inc.For the past 20 years, Brathwaite has been employed by the multinational oil company, Shell, and in his last position was External Affairs Manager for Shell in the Caribbean, in which he was responsible for Shell’s reputation management in 14 Caribbean territories.Brathwaite has had overseas postings with Shell in Switzerland, St. Maarten and South Africa. In South Africa as Sales Promotion and Sponsorship Manager, he was responsible for optimising the exposure of the Shell brand through developing innovative promotion and sponsorship opportunities.The new Chief Marketing Executive also spent several years in retail sales management in the Eastern Caribbean.In his capacity as External Affairs Manager for Shell, Brathwaite played a significant role in the development of the Shell Cricket Academy of St. George’s University and also taught during the programme.”It is my vision that the Marketing Department of the WICB will be able to deliver the levels of revenue required to fully fund the needs of West Indies cricket, while at the same time reinforcing the values of the Windies Cricket brand and everything for which it stands,” said Brathwaite, who is an avid cricket fan.The WICB’s Chief Executive Officer Gregory Shillingford welcomed Brathwaite to the WICB’s headquarters in St. John’s, Antigua, stating that the organisation is happy to have attracted such a high-calibre professional.”We look forward to Roger making a significant and valuable contribution to West Indies cricket, particularly since the WICB’s marketing operations is one of the main engines on which our product’s success depends,” Shillingford said.”We have no doubt that his experience of global markets will redound to the WICB’s benefit,” he added.Brathwaite, who is married, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.

Kevin Phillips has tipped Leeds United to sign Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma as a replacement for Helder Costa this summer [Football Insider].

The Lowdown: Leeds United prepare for 2021/22

Moving into the 2021/22 season, it will be compelling to see how Marcelo Bielsa goes about shaping a team capable of bettering their impressive ninth-placed finish last term.

They have already concluded deals for youngster Amari Miller, alongside ex-Manchester City winger Jack Harrison [The Athletic].

Intriguingly, BBC pundit Phillips has now tipped the Whites to acquire Netherlands international Danjuma. Football Insider noted that, in a tweet from the Voetbal International Twitter account on 24 June which has since been deleted, the 24-year-old made some comments about wanting to join Leeds.

Speaking to Football Insider about comments Danjuma made about potentially departing the south coast for Elland Road, Phillips stated:

“He’s a good player. He was one of Bournemouth’s better players last year. He’s very tricky and super skilful.

“When a player comes out and says that, it just speaks volumes about what Leeds did last season.

“When you’ve got a player coming out and saying ‘I would love to play for Leeds’.

“He could be a good replacement for someone like Helder Costa and he wouldn’t cost the Earth.”

The Verdict: Danjuma would be an excellent signing

Phillips is right to point out the favourable attributes that the Dutchman has as a footballer. He enjoyed a fantastic 2020/21 season in the Championship, registering 25 goal contributions in 37 games for the Cherries with 17 goals and eight assists [Transfermarkt].

Finishing as top scorer at the Vitality Stadium, he also achieved the highest match rating per match across Bournemouth’s entire first team squad, averaging a score of 7.21/10 across the campaign [WhoScored].

Looking ahead to the forthcoming season, Bielsa could do a lot worse than to swoop for the Dutch winger due to his predatory instincts in front of goal and his ability to carry the ball.

He would appear to be a great signing for the Premier League outfit should they decide to pursue him in the wake of his apparent recent comments.

وشدد رئيس الأهلي على أن الفترة القادمة لا تحتمل تكرار مثل هذا التقصير أيًا كانت المبررات، ولا بد أن يضطلع كل فرد في منظومة الفريق بمسئولياته، وأن يتحلى الجميع بشخصية الأهلي في كل شيء، وغير مسموح لأي فرد أن يعيش على ذكريات البطولات الماضية، وأن الفوز ببطولة قارية لا يعني التفريط في البطولة المحلية، والأهلي يلعب للفوز بكل البطولات التي يشارك فيها، وكل مسئول في النادي أيًّا كان دوره سواء كان لاعبًا أو مدربًا أو إداريًّا أو عضو مجلس إدارة لا بد أن يعلم ذلك، ويعمل على تحقيقه.

The tour of Canada will follow the tour of Britain, and will be a warm up for the Canadian team ahead of this year’s Red Stripe Bowl.Revised Red Stripe BowlThe Canadians will once again be fielding a team in the regional one day tournament, having last done so in 1999. Ten teams are expected to compete in this year’s tournament. Lynn McConnell02-Jul-2002New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond is to play for Warwickshire in August.Bond, who secured another five-wicket bag today, his second of the two-Test series against the West Indies and the second of his brief Test career, is to replace South African Shaun Pollock while he takes part in an international tri-series for his country.After a four-month lay-off Bond was keen to maintain the momentum he has gained since returning for the West Indies tour to bridge the gap of non-activity New Zealand faces before it plays in the ICC Champions Trophy tournament in Sri Lanka in September.His contract involves him playing three four-day matches in the County Championship and one one-day match in the Norwich Union League.In his six Test matches since making his debut against Australia in November last year, Bond has taken 26 wickets at 25.19.New Zealand Cricket operations manager John Reid said: “New Zealand Cricket has agreed to allow Shane the opportunity to play some cricket for Warwickshire because we believe it will provide him with excellent preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka in September.”The TelstraClear Black Caps first match in the ICC Champions Trophy is against Australia in Colombo on September 15.”This is a knock-out tournament. Some Everton fans have been left begging for the signing of Allan Saint-Maximin as a transfer update emerged.

As per The Daily Mirror, Rafa Benitez could make a £50m move for the Newcastle United star if Richarlison ends up going to Real Madrid to reunite with former Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Saint-Maximin is known for his exceptional dribbling ability, having recorded the second-most successful dribbles (3.8) per game in the Premier League last 2020/21, bettered only by Wolves speedster Adama Traore with 4.1 (WhoScored).

£50m is admittedly a lot of money to pay, especially for Everton, but the Frenchman is more than capable of bringing the X-factor to Merseyside. Also, at just 24 years of age, he could turn out to be a solid purchase for several years to come.

Nesta terça-feira, o técnico Rogério Ceni aplicou o único trabalho tático antes de enfrentar o duelo de volta com o ABC, válido pela terceira fase, e manteve a dúvida sobre a participação de Cueva como titular. As baixas para o confronto são os lesionados Pratto, Maicon e Sidão, o volante Wesley, que iniciou preparação física nesta terça em São Paulo, e o trio Douglas, Breno e Jucilei, por opção.
