The takeover of Derby County has been plunged into doubt after a concerning report regarding Erik Alonso emerged.

What’s the latest?

According to the Daily Mail, complications have arisen in Alonso’s bid to purchase Derby from the current owner, Mel Morris, as the Spanish football agent intends to buy the club with money borrowed against Pride Park.

The attempt to secure the finances against Pride Park, as well as the length of time it takes to arrange a report on the value of Derby’s stadium, is reported to be the source of the delay in the takeover attempt – which had been agreed with Morris around a month ago.

However, the Daily Mail now claim that, because of these latest developments, the deal could head in a similar direction to the failed takeover attempt of Dubai-based Bin Zayed International.

Fans will be furious

Considering the miserable season that Derby have endured on the pitch, something that could still be made worst if the club lose to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, as the result would relegate the Rams to the third tier of English football, this latest development in the club’s proposed takeover is not likely to come as welcome news to fans.

Indeed, when taking into account the fact that Mel Morris agreed to sell the club a month ago, with the hope of a swift changeover to Alonso’s No Limits Sports Ltd, the amount of time that the deal has sat awaiting the EFL’s approval would not appear to bode well for the takeover.

However, it could be argued that, if Alonso does not actually possess the money to purchase the club in the first place, and instead needs to take a loan out on Pride Park to fund the takeover, he may not be the right person to be in charge of the club – as this would indicate he does not have funds readily available to invest in Derby County.

Either way, the news is certainly not good for the Derby fans who were hopeful of the club heading in a rather more positive direction under new ownership, and the future of the Rams now appears, once again, worryingly uncertain.

وأصدر ليدز يونايتد بيانًا رسميًا، حيث أوضح من خلاله تعاقده مع الأمريكي جيسي مارش، صاحب الـ48 عامًا.

وأضاف النادي في بيانه أن جيسي مارش وقع عقدًا مع ليدز يونايتد حتى عام 2025، وستكون أول مباراة له في الدوري الإنجليزي يوم السبت ضد ليستر سيتي.

Former West Brom midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that he expects Sam Allardyce to walk away from his old club if he is not offered financial reassurances.

Talks with the board over his future are imminent following West Brom’s relegation from the Premier League, with a clause in his contract allowing either party to end things now that it has been confirmed that the Baggies will play in the Championship next season.

Having won promotion from English football’s second division in the past, keeping Allardyce on from a West Brom perspective looks a no-brainer.

However, Palmer is convinced the 66-year-old will only stay at the Hawthorns if he is given the tools to bring the Midlands outfit back up at the first time of asking.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about Big Sam’s future, the ex-West Brom player said:

“I think the main thing will be, I think they will want to keep Sam Allardyce, for sure. He’s proven that he can do that before, get teams back at the first attempt. But obviously now they’ve got relegated, it will be a case of what the situation is financially.

“If they’re going to cut back massively financially because they’ve gone and Sam doesn’t believe that he’s got a chance to bring them back at the first attempt, he won’t stay.”

According to Sky Sports, if Allardyce does end up departing, then the Baggies could turn to former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

Many West Ham United fans want Marko Arnautovic back at the club after ExWHUemployee said the Hammers were interested in re-signing the Austria international.

The 32-year-old did not leave the Irons on the best of terms as he pushed for a move to China in 2019 (The Sun), but he enjoyed a good spell at the London Stadium, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 65 matches (Transfermarkt). Although at times he was criticised for his work-rate and attitude (talkSPORT), there was no questioning his technical skills and his ability to decide a match in his team’s favour. Throughout his club career, he has managed 99 goals.

West Ham are likely to be looking to bring in a centre-forward this summer – David Moyes currently has only Michail Antonio at his disposal in that position. According to club insider ExWHUemployee, Arnautovic is on the club’s radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window (via West Ham Central).

What’s the latest?

The Hammers will likely be without first-choice goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski after he suffered a knee injury during the warm-up against West Brom on Wednesday evening. It’s thought that the 36-year-old suffered a knee issue and had to be withdrawn from the starting XI at the 11th hour, with Darren Randolph featuring in his place.

“He felt his knee go from under him. I don’t know if he’s done anything bad. We’ll have to see. Obviously, it’s a blow because he’s been very good for us,” revealed Moyes after the victory.

The ever-reliable ExWHUemployee told fans on Twitter that he would “extremely doubt” Fabianski’s involvement against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

Moyes has since delivered a fresh update on the situation, and it isn’t looking very good. Speaking in his pre-game press conference, the West Ham manager told reporters, via football.london: “Don’t know about Fabianski, [I] don’t think it is quite as bad at the time but it will be a last-minute call on Sunday.”

Huge blow

Given the endless list of injury problems with which Moyes has had to deal throughout the season, particularly since the turn of the year, it would be a surprise to see him risk the Poland shot-stopper.

Fabianski must surely have the European Championships in the back of his mind, so surely he won’t want to risk aggravating the injury, especially as it’s a knee concern.

Ultimately, this will come as a major blow to Moyes as it makes the Irons a much weaker side defensively. Randolph looked a little shaky from crosses and set pieces against the Baggies in midweek.

He will now be coming up against a pair of better forwards in Danny Ings (12 goals) and Che Adams (nine goals), both of whom average 1.5 or more shots per league game this term, as per WhoScored.

The 34-year-old will be in for a busy afternoon if he’s not at the top of his game, while it remains to be seen how the defence will feel without their usual and trusted number one behind them.

Fabianski has started 34 of their league outings this term, keeping nine clean sheets and letting in only 1.2 goals per game, via Transfermarkt.

West Ham need just one point from the match to seal a place in the Europa League, or else they’ll be competing in the lesser and inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, which will be far less appealing to any of their mooted summer transfer targets.

Therefore, Moyes may well feel a little worried about their prospects going into such a crucial encounter this weekend. He’ll be hoping that Randolph can fit in seamlessly, but he’ll have to improve from midweek.

Após perder o goleiro Danilo na tragédia, Marcelo Boeck para o Fortaleza e Nivaldo que aposentou e foi para a diretoria, o clube tem interesse em 14 nomes para a meta. Alguns dos interessados são Renan e Agenor, dos rivais Avaí e Joinville, e Wilson, do Coritiba.
