أعرب الفرنسي لويس فرنانديز، مدرب باريس سان جيرمان السابق، عن اندهاشه من تحدث والدة كيليان مبابي، مهاجم النادي الباريسي، حول مستقبل نجلها مع وصيف فرنسا.

وكانت والدة مبابي قد قالت منذ أيام قليلة، أن نجلها من الممكن أن يجدد تعاقده مع باريس سان جيرمان، وذلك في الوقت الذي أعلن فيه اللاعب الفرنسي، بأنه أخبر إدارة ناديه برغبته في الانتقال إلى ريال مدريد.

وقال فرنانديز في تصريحات لإذاعة “SER” الإسبانية: “لقد فوجئت بخروج والدة مبابي والتصريح لوسائل الإعلام، عليك أن تنتظر قليلًا لأن العديد من التصريحات من اللاعب والأم يذهب كل منهما بطريقته الخاصة”.

وأضاف: “أنا لا أتذكر أن والدة بلاتيني أو لاعبين كبار مثله خرجت وتحدثت عن مثل هذا الشأن في وسائل الإعلام”.

وواصل: “عندما اضطروا للحديث من قبل، كان ذلك ضروريًا، لأن مبابي كان لاعبًا شابًا، لكنه الآن اكتسب الخبرات، ويُمكنه أن يتخذ قرارًا بشكلٍ جيد، لقد أعلن رغبته في المغادرة، وهذا أمر واضح”.

What’s the word?

According to the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, the Midlanders are poised to make another attempt to sign Arsenal utility man Ainsley Maitland-Niles before the window closes next month.

He claims that Nuno Santo is still keen on the newly-capped England star as a potential replacement for the recently-departed Matt Doherty.

It’s thought that the decision could come down to the player himself as he wants assurances over playing time having broke into Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions during the international break, though he started the Gunners’ opener vs Fulham on Saturday.

Perfect fit

Yesterday evening saw Adama Traore revert back to the right wing-back position but after providing six goals and 12 assists last season, he’s better off in an advanced role up the field.

His versatility surely makes him a dream fit for Nuno’s system at Molineux. At the weekend he played left wing-back having started his career out as a midfielder.

In 20 appearances last season, Maitland-Niles averaged 2.1 tackles, 1.6 clearances, one dribble and 0.6 key passes per game, via WhoScored.

Despite not being a regular starter in north London, the 23-year-old has received plenty of glowing endorsements for his performances in an Arsenal shirt.

Former Gunners striker Jeremie Aliadiere believes Maitland-Niles has “all the attributes to become a top player” whilst BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton labelled him a “diamond” who’s a “versatile talent”.

Wolves will become seriously restricted if they head past October with just Traore as the only option on the right, so Jeff Shi must sanction the £30m swoop, it could soon prove to be one of the coups of the window.

Maitland-Niles would fit in like a glove in the Midlands.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have one man to thank more than any for their recent successes, and that man is Jorge Mendes.

The Portuguese super-agent has brokered some unbelievable deals for the Midlands club over the past few years due to his close links with the Fosun group.

He’s been responsible for the likes of Ruben Neves, Nuno Espirito Santo, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio turning up at Molineux, but as with any ‘quid pro quo’ agreement Wolves eventually have to give something back.

Of course, Mendes has benefitted himself from these deals, with his players’ moves earning him a nice sum of money, but agents have a reputation for being untrustworthy for a reason, and now we’re starting to see the brutal trade-off Wolves have to make.

Matt Doherty became a Mendes client not too long ago, and he moved this summer for a cut-price deal to Tottenham, to work under another of Gestifute’s clients, Jose Mourinho.

Wolves then paid a club-record £35m for Fabio Silva, with Mendes personally pocketing over £6m upon the completion of that deal, while Diogo Jota is also set to depart for £45m.

Players moving is a part and parcel of football, and a club that aren’t challenging on the European stage will struggle to keep hold of these ambitious stars, but everything Mendes has brought to Wolves has been positive so far, but now we’re starting to see negatives as he works towards his clients’ gains rather than the club’s.

Nobody can really blame him, and he’s still done far more good than bad for the Fosun-owned entity, but now we’re learning that you have to take the rough with the smooth and that this recent rapid growth may not be exponential.

When it comes to Fantasy Premier League, you forward options are often the most important decisions to make before the start of each new season – and this one proves no different to the rest.

There is an abundance of strikers and wingers to choose from now, with plenty of forwards last season heading into double figures for their goalscoring tallies. This new season has seen plenty of new additions from new signings at the big clubs, all the way to the new players coming through from the clubs promoted from the Championship.

No matter what, you can always rely on your go-to’s from each season, as well as finding room for those hidden gems and cheaper players to help fill out your squad whilst making sure you build the best starting XI and bench possible.

With that being said, we’re going to take a look at four options up top that could be a make or break for your FPL team, ranging from all prices at any club in the league.

Aleksandar Mitrovic – £6.0m

The Serbian international is back in the Premier League with Fulham after their prometon via the Playoff final against Brentford. Last season in the Championship, Mitrović managed 26 goals in 41 appearances for the Cottagers – and in his last season in the Premier League, he still scored 11 goals for the club despite their relegation in the 2018/19 season.

The 25-year-old will currently cost you just £6.0m, a great price for a striker of his ability and proficiency, and has only been selected by 25.7% of users. Along with an ICT index rank of 512 of 521, Mitrović should be in everyone’s starting XI this season.

Anthony Martial – £9.0m

Last season saw the Frenchman enjoy his best goalscoring season for Manchester United yet, managing 17 goals in 33 appearances. During that time, he picked up a total of 200 points and certainly struck up a great partnership with Marcus Rashford both before and after the Englishman’s injury.

This season has only seen 13.8% of user select Martial, likely due to his £9.0m price tag – but don’t let that scare you off. Now that the 24-year-old has found his feet in a Red Devils shirt, I can’t see that slowing down now, and he would be a great option in your starting XI if you give him the chance.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – £7.2m

Everton’s No.9 has certainly shown what he is about in the Premier League last campaign.

The 23-year-old scored 13 goals for the Toffees last season, amassing 126 points by the end of the year, and I don’t see that being the end of the Englishman’s goalscoring form. This season has seen Carlo Ancelotti sign three new midfielders in Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and James Rodriguez, with the latter being the most important for Calvert-Lewin.

Rodriguez will bring a new attacking dimension for Everton, and I can see Calvert-Lewin benefitting greatly from this. This season the striker will only cost you £7.2m and has only been selected by 24% of users.

Neal Maupay – £6.5m

The French striker has been something of a revelation for Brighton. Since 2016, Glenn Murray was a fantastic goal scorer for the Seagulls, but the 2018/19 season was far from Murray’s brilliance – and this led to the now 36-year-old being side-lined due to injuries and his age.

In steps Neal Maupay, and suddenly Brighton have themselves a real goalscoring striker in their hands. Last season was Maupay’s first for the club, and the 24-year-old managed 10 goals in 37 appearances, totaling 131 points for the campaign.

Maupay can currently be picked up for just £6.5m. Only 2.1% of users have selected him, meaning he has certainly gone under the radar.
