New Zealand’s fast bowlers crushed Pakistan in swinging conditions at Mount Maunganui and set up a massive 115-run win to help the home side clinch the series 3-1 with a match to spare. After chasing down 205 in Auckland to keep the series alive, Pakistan were all out in 16.2 on Sunday with New Zealand’s four-seam attack accounting for nine of the ten wickets. Jacob Duffy made early inroads, picking up three wickets inside the powerplay to dent Pakistan and they never recovered from the top-order collapse.Earlier, Finn Allen top-scored with a 20-ball fifty and cameos from Tim Seifert and Michael Bracewell powered New Zealand to 220 for 6. Seifert takes off in powerplayTim Seifert continued to give flying starts for New Zealand. He drove the second ball of the innings, a juicy half-volley from Shaheen Afridi, straight down the ground for four and followed it up with a six over long-on off Khushdil Shah in the next over. Abrar Ahmed’s first over, fourth overall, was the expensive one in the powerplay as Seifert smashed 6, 4, 6 in the 19-run over. The team’s fifty came up in 3.5 overs. But Pakistan got the breakthrough immediately as Haris Rauf was brought in for the fifth over with Seifert pulling a short ball to deep midwicket where Khushdil took a stunning low catch. New Zealand ended the powerplay at 79 for 1 – the second-highest powerplay total for any team against Pakistan in men’s T20Is. Seifert made a 22-ball 44.Pakistan fightback after Allen’s fiftyAllen scored eight off his first six balls, but once the field was spread out, he took charge. Ratcliffe meeting routine, says Amorim

Since last weekend’s 3-0 thrashing at the hands of rivals Manchester City, rumours have circled around Ruben Amorim’s immediate future at Old Trafford. Some reports have even suggested that he has just three games to save his job, starting this evening against Chelsea.

The arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe hardly helped end those rumours, either, but the manager has since clarified that meeting was simply routine whilst joking that he was offered a new contract.

For the time being, it seems as though Amorim has the support of INEOS. But that won’t last forever if current results continue. The owners invested around £200m to bolster United’s squad in the summer and will be expecting that to be reflected on the pitch sooner rather than later.

INEOS are unlikely to be finished with their investment, either. 2026 will hand them a fresh opportunity to complete Amorim’s side and reports have already suggested that there could be attempts to sign the likes of Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid.

Whether the Red Devils are willing to splash out on the Frenchman is another question, however. Instead, they may look towards a bargain deal to sign a Barcelona alternative.

Man Utd now eyeing De Jong swoop

According to reports in Spain, Man United are now eyeing a 2026 move to sign Frenkie de Jong. The Barcelona midfielder is set to be out of contract next summer and could, therefore, hand the Red Devils the perfect opportunity to land the deal of a lifetime.

There will undoubtedly be plenty of suitors if the Dutchman becomes a free agent next year, but United have surprisingly had little trouble attracting talent recently, despite missing out on European football last season.

Martin conceded the backing of the Ibrox board is not infinite but remains confident that he can get it right.

He said: “I think it’s the same everywhere. Just this club is intensified and the scrutiny is much higher, the noise is much louder.

“So every draw we’ve had has felt like a defeat because of the stature of this club and what it means and what we have to try and fight for.

“So I can’t answer your question really, you’d have to ask the people above me.

“I feel that the players and the staff are really behind me. I felt really supported by everyone else above me as well, and I can’t dictate whether that changes or not.

O estádio, que está em reformas desde junho de 2021 e deve voltar a receber jogos no início do próximo ano, é administrado pela concessionária Allegra Pacaembu, que planeja acabar com os alugueis para utilização do estádio e realizar parcerias junto aos clubes mandantes, dividindo os lucros (e custos) do dia da partida.

A reportagem apurou que há uma frase norteando os trabalhos da administradora desde que assumiu o controle do estádio, em janeiro de 2020: transformar o Pacaembu no melhor campo neutro do Brasil. Dentro deste conceito, e embora a concessionária não tenha nenhuma parceria firmada com clubes, há o desejo de receber não apenas o Flamengo, mas também clubes de outras regiões do Brasil, como Bahia, Fortaleza e Ceará.

Em nota oficial (leia no fim da matéria), a concessionária utiliza a mesma expressão do campo neutro e reforça essa ideia ao afirmar que há interesse em receber equipes de todo o Brasil após a conclusão das obras.

FLAMENGO EM SÃO PAULO NÃO É NOVIDADE
Desde que houve uma ‘invasão’ de torcedores do Flamengo em 2011, para a final da Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior de 2011 diante do Bahia, o clube olha com cuidado para seus torcedores da capital paulista.

Em 2014, por exemplo, foi ventilada a possibilidade de o clube passar a mandar, ao menos, um jogo por ano no Pacaembu, o que se concretizou em abril de 2016, quando o Rubro-Negro marcou um Fla-Flu do campeonato carioca para o estádio. A experiência foi tão positiva que o Flamengo disputou mais dois jogos do Brasileirão daquele ano no local: diante de Figueirense e Santa Cruz.

Além dos jogos, a inauguração de lojas oficiais do clube na região metropolitana de São Paulo também seguem essa tendência de focar no mercado paulista. Das mais de 170 unidades existentes, seis estão espalhadas por locais estratégicos como a Avenida Paulista (considerado o coração da cidade) e o Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos.

Com o Pacaembu em obras e o Mané Garrincha indisponível, o Flamengo acabou optando pelo estádio Kleber Andrade, em Cariacica (ES) para mandar seu jogo contra o Athletico-PR, marcado para o dia 13 de setembro (quarta-feira) pelo Brasileirão.

Por ter entrado na terceira fase, o Tricolor já tinha arrecadado R$ 2,1 milhões. Quando classificou para as oitavas, mais R$ 3,3 milhões. Ao eliminar o Sport e avançar para as quartas, conquistou R$ 4,3 milhões. A premiação do avanço para as semifinais contra o Palmeiras foi de mais R$ 9 milhões. Já a ida à final garantiu mais R$ 30 milhões, que é a premiação destinada ao vice.
