Reporter shares exciting Rangers transfer news he’s heard from Ibrox

Any early doubts about Philippe Clement's ability to turn what was a sinking ship around at Rangers have instantly been put to rest following the former AS Monaco man's first run of results. The new boss got off to the perfect start when the Gers ruthlessly dispatched Hibernian to win 4-0 in the Scottish Premiership, before remaining unbeaten in their next three games.

Among those results was their most recent 5-0 thrashing of Dundee United, as five different goalscorers contributed to the victory in stunning fashion. With every week, appointing Clement looks more and more like a wise decision. And now, Rangers look set to hand their new manager a major transfer boost in January, according to reports.

Rangers transfer news

The downfall of Michael Beale's tenure really began back in the summer transfer window when the likes of Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers arrived, only to struggle in front of goal. Rangers will hope that Clement can finally get the best out of the summer arrivals, but the manager may well have a plan of his own in the market.

The January transfer window represents a chance for the Belgian to make his mark on his new side, welcoming players to suit his system. According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Rangers are planning on adding at least two new signings in January, and maybe even a third to really show their backing of Clement. Reinforcements could be difficult to come by, however, with reports suggesting that the Gers are short on funds and would have to rely on loan deals or loan-to-buy transfers in the winter window.

If Clement can identify targets that suit his system and know him, as well as those within the Rangers budget, then he may well turn his solid start into an impressive run at Ibrox in the second half of the campaign.

Where do Rangers need to strengthen?

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers.

Given the fact that Kemar Roofe has scored just one goal all season, it's fair to say that Rangers could do with an attacking reinforcement in the January transfer window. The likes of Abdallah Sima have helped with recent form, but Clement's side still lack a reliable focal point in their attacking line, something that the winter window must help to solve.

It has been their performance in front of goal and lack of conviction in important moments that have left Rangers five points adrift of table-toppers and Old Firm rivals Celtic. The Gers have scored 24 goals in the Scottish Premiership and conceded just six in 11 games in what is the best defensive record in the division. If they can start firing on all cylinders offensively, then watch out.

When speaking about potential January arrivals, via BBC Sport, Clement said: "I want players who are not afraid to fail, to make mistakes. There is not one team in the world who does not make mistakes – but they are perfect after that. I want to create the best technical, tactical, physical and mental team of the league in the next couple of months. If you do that, results will follow."

Draw looms as South Africa A lose wickets in wet weather

India A bowlers strike back, but only 33 overs bowled on third day as visitors reach 294 for 7 at stumps

The Report by Sreshth Shah in Alur12-Aug-2018Dane Piedt lasted 104 deliveries•Gallo Images

Less than 33 overs were bowled on the third day of the second unofficial Test in Alur, as persistent rain forced only one session of play between India A and South Africa A. The visitors added 75 runs for the loss of four wickets on the day, but still remained 51 behind India’s first-innings total. With three only three sessions left to play, it’s likely that the game will be drawn.A light drizzle welcomed both teams in the morning, and that forced the 9.30am start to be delayed by almost three hours. At 12.10pm, after lunch was officially taken, overnight batsmen Rassie van der Dussen and Rudi Second began the day’s play but their partnership was quickly halted by fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot. In his third over of the morning, Rajpoot forced a false cut-shot, off a wide ball outside the stumps, to send van der Dussen back, edging to the wicketkeeper for 22. Four overs later, Second clipped a shot straight to Prithvi Shaw at midwicket – off Rajpoot again – to follow his partner back on 47.India’s sharp work in the field continued when Mohammed Siraj dived forward at cover, off Jayant Yadav’s offspin, to send Dwaine Pretorius back for a 23-ball 10, but a forty-run partnership for the seventh-wicket helped South Africa briefly recover.Dane Piedt – the stand-in captain in place of Khaya Zondo – walked in when the sixth wicket fell to join Senuran Muthusamy, and handed India an opportunity off his very first ball. But Mayank Agarwal dropped the tough chance at cover to hand Piedt a brief reprieve. Piedt then took on the spinners, crunching a six over deep midwicket and three more leg-side boundaries off Jayant and Yuzvendra Chahal, but his leg-stump was soon sent cartwheeling by a Siraj snorter in the 93rd over. With less than two minutes for tea, the umpires called for a break right away with South Africa 294 for 7.For the 100-strong crowd that braved the weather to make it to the KSCA Cricket Ground, that was all the cricket available to them. The teams walked out at 3pm for the day’s final session to begin, but the clouds opened up once more, sending both teams scurrying back into the pavilion. The crowd stuck around, but so did the rain, and at 4.40pm, the umpires finally called for early stumps for the second day in a row.

Legspinner Brandon Mavuta and allrounders Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams have all secured contracts to play in the Mzansi Super League in South Africa in November and December. Both Williams and Raza were picked up by Tshwane Spartans, Williams securing R 350,000 (USD 24,500) while Raza earned R 100,000 (USD 7,000). They will join a strong line-up that also includes AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, Lungi Ngidi and Dean Elgar.Mavuta will join Durban Heat for the league, which runs from 16 November to 16 December and includes 32 games in total. The 21-year-old Mavuta picked up a R 180,000 (USD 12,600) deal and will allow his team the cover of a second legspinning option, when Rashid Khan is away at the Abu Dhabi T10 League, from 23 November to 2 December. The three Zimbabweans were part of a group of 11 who were included in the MSL player draft, among 342 international and South African cricketers vying for 96 spots in the six league teams. "Rangers pushing" – Romano reveals Ibrox chiefs working on in-house deal

A "brilliant" Rangers player could soon put pen to paper on a new-and-improved contract, according to a fresh update from renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Rangers contract news

The Gers are back in Scottish Premiership action on Sunday afternoon, making the trip to Livingston for a must-win game in the title race, as they look to go into the international break with plenty of momentum. Philippe Clement continues to make his mark as manager, having replaced Michael Beale earlier in the season, and he will be looking to complete new signings at the first opportunity during the summer transfer window.

While it is clear that certain new faces are required, in order to make Clement's squad more formidable and a perfect fit for his system, it is also imperative that important players also stay put, committing their future to Rangers in the process.

There are seven different individuals who are out of contract at the end of this season, with the Rangers deals of John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic and Ryan Jack all expiring, and it remains to be seen how many of them will stay on beyond next summer.

Now, a big update has now emerged regarding the future of another highly-rated figure, as they look to tie him down for the long-term future.

Rangers pushing to sign McCausland to new deal

According to Romano on X on Saturday morning, Ross McClausland could be set to sign a new deal with Rangers, with Ibrox chiefs working on an extension at the club:

"Exclusive: Rangers have sent their proposal to talent Ross McCausland for new contract valid until June 2027. Ross impressed again in Europa League in front of PL clubs scouts, now Rangers pushing to tie him down as compensation fee would be £350k in the summer."

This is great news for Rangers, assuming McCausland agrees a new contract at the club, considering what a big talent he is, representing the future at Ibrox. The 20-year-old has produced some impressive performances so far this season, not starting a game but throwing him some eye-catching cameos, with McCausland's appearances already up to six in 2023/24.

Someone who has been hugely impressed with what he has seen from the young winger is former Rangers hero Lee McCulloch, who said of him recently:

"He was absolutely brilliant. He has got pace and I thought his technical first touch was tremendous tonight. And playing in this cauldron and the magnitude of the game, to come out and look composed and he looked full of confidence.

"He had a shot on goal, which the goalkeeper made a great save. He cut inside the man and had a great weight of pass for Danilo who had a shot on goal. He worked hard and is brilliant coming through the academy."

At just 20 years of age, there is still so much more to come from McCausland, so the idea of him committing his future to Rangers and continuing to grow as a player at Ibrox is so exciting.

Everton make big decision over “superb” star

Everton have a big decision to make with one "superb" player in 2024, and a significant update has now emerged regarding his future at Goodison Park.

Drama at Everton

It's fair to say that there is a lot going on with the Blues at the moment, as Sean Dyche's side look to pull away from the relegation zone and secure yet another year in the Premier League.

Their plight has not been remotely helped by Everton's 10-point deduction that has recently come their way, however, immediately throwing them into the bottom-three and undoing some good recent results.

Journalist shares promising off-field Everton update

The Toffees are going through a difficult period following their recent points deduction.

ByChloe Chadwick Nov 23, 2023

There is also the potential takeover of the club to focus on, with little progress made recently, and fans will be desperate to see new owners come in as soon as possible, as well as hopefully see their points penalty overturned after an appeal.

Both current situations have the potential to negatively impact Everton's transfer business, too, with funds not necessarily available to bring in fresh faces in the January transfer window. The same could also apply to loanees and retaining their services beyond this season.

Everton make Jack Harrison decision

According to a fresh claim from Football Insider, Everton have decided not to make Jack Harrison's loan move from Leeds United a permanent one next year, with their points deduction a key reason for it.

"Everton are not expected to trigger the release clause of on-loan winger Jack Harrison following their points deduction, sources have told Football Insider. The Toffees transfer plans are up in the air as January approaches following their historic biggest-ever Premier League punishment for breaking financial fair play rules.

"Sean Dyche’s side do not have a buy option in Harrison‘s loan agreement. However, there is a release clause in his Leeds contract which can be activated during the length of his temporary spell at Goodison Park. A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Everton are not currently looking to do so after their bombshell 10-point deduction."

It is a tough decision for Everton to make when it comes to Harrison, who hasn't exactly set the world alight since he made the temporary switch from Leeds during the summer window, but has still contributed at times.

The Englishman has only started five Premier League games this season, but the Blues loanee has registered three assists in that time, and he is finding it difficult to regularly find himself in Dyche's starting lineup.

That suggests that the manager doesn't see him as a key figure moving forward, so deciding not to sign him permanently at the end of the season could make the most sense, even though he has been hailed as a "superb" player by YouTuber Conor McGilligan in the past.

Instead, Everton could bring in a strong option in his attacking midfield and wide role next summer – someone who is more consistent in all facets of their game – also getting his £90,000 per week wages off their bill at the same time.
