Leeds United return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they look to continue their resurgence in form under new manager Javi Gracia.

No player in Gracia's squad has averaged more interceptions per game this season, while he also ranks third for clearances and sixth for tackles, which emphasises the defensive qualities he can add and against one of the league's best attacks, he could be crucial to Leeds' hopes of coming away from the Emirates with a point or more.

Journalist Dean Jones was full of praise for the 31-year-old earlier this year in an interview with GiveMeSport, labelling him a "leader," while former manager Jesse Marsch also spoke highly of the defender's attitude and mentality at Elland Road.

Unsurprisingly, the £65k-per-week midfielder’s woeful display caught the eye of journalists on Twitter, with Barry Collins writing:

“What the hell has happened to Tomas Soucek? An absolute shadow of the player that arrived. Has zero presence.”

David Rivers suggested that Moyes’ faith in Soucek was a stackable offence in itself, suggesting that his decision to keep playing the out-of-form West Ham man was “becoming comical.”

Although fingers will naturally be pointed at Fabianski and Aguerd for their shocking mistakes, Soucek completely went missing again. With that being said, if Orta could acquire the services of Mariano this summer, it could be a great opportunity for Leeds to bring in a player who is not only goal-hungry but a striker with a winning mindset who could positively influence his teammates with his wealth of experience.

Aston Villa travel to Brentford this weekend, with Unai Emery's side looking to keep their Champions League hopes alive with another win in west London.

The Villans have been in superb form in recent weeks, winning seven and drawing one of their last eight Premier League fixtures, which has put the Midlands outfit in with a great chance of securing European football for next season.

However, with six points separating Villa and the top four and just seven games remaining, Emery's side could still achieve their Champions League dream should they continue their unbeaten run until the end of the campaign.

Brentford away represents an extremely tricky game for Emery's high-fliers, and the key to picking up three points could be keeping talismanic striker Ivan Toney quiet.

For that reason, we think the Spaniard should consider unleashing Diego Carlos for the first time since August, as the former Sevilla man has not been given a runout since recovering from his long-term injury.

Should Villa unleash Carlos vs Brentford?

The 30-year-old, who earns £100k per week, would join Villa in a deal worth £26m last summer, but disaster struck on his home debut against Everton as he ruptured an Achilles tendon which has kept him out for much of the season.

However, he has returned to the bench in recent weeks and has been left to watch on as the Villans enjoy an impressive unbeaten run, but he could still play his part in helping Emery's side finish the season strongly.

Neither Ezri Konsa nor Tyrone Mings – who have been part of Emery's preferred centre-back partnership since he took over – can match that from their overall displays this season, while he also beats Konsa for clearances per game, as well as both players for aerials won.

This suggests that in the long term, he could be a better option for Emery at centre-back, and with one of the Premier League's most in-form strikers set to test Villa's defence on Saturday, it might be the perfect time to unleash Carlos.

Luis Sinisterra's recent goalscoring form begs the question of whether or not Leeds United would be in relegation trouble had he maintained his fitness throughout the season.

How has Sinisterra's first season at Leeds been?

The 1-1 draw against Leicester City in midweek was perhaps a microcosm of the summer signing's debut campaign in the Premier League, as he scored an impressive header and looked dangerous in the opening stages but was later forced off with an injury in the first half.

Since signing from Feyenoord in a deal worth £21m in the summer of 2022, the 23-year-old has gone on to make just 13 starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League, in which he has scored five goals and provided no assists.

The spritely winger also scored in the League Cup and FA Cup so only trails Rodrigo in terms of goals in all competitions in Leeds' squad, which is an impressive feat when you consider how much of the term he has missed through injury.

His 6.58 average rating from WhoScored for his performances in the Premier League sees him ranked as the eighth-best performer in Javi Gracia's side, while he also ranks third for dribbles and shots per game, which emphasises just how dangerous he can be when on top of his game.

Yorkshire Evening Post writer Graham Smyth lamented Sinisterra after Tuesday night's game, in which Leeds fans saw the best and worst of the attacker.

He said: "Sinisterra limps off. Summerville comes on. Leeds haven't seen enough of the Colombian this season. Injuries have robbed them of a match-winner."

The Colombia international would register an impressive 12 goals and seven assists in the Eredivisie last season so is certainly capable of producing on a regular basis, but as Smyth suggests, Leeds just haven't seen enough of him, and his lack of appearances could certainly be considered a factor if the Yorkshire outfit succumbs to relegation.

Although Leeds' main problem this season has been conceding goals, with only Bournemouth shipping more in the top flight, Sinisterra was absent for all of November and much of February and March due to injury concerns.

In that time, Leeds dropped points against relegation rivals West Ham United, Everton and Chelsea, while also suffering narrow defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, in which Sinisterra certainly could have made a difference.

With just five games of the season remaining, Gracia will be praying that the injury he received in midweek was a minor one and that he can be fit enough to help Leeds in their fight against relegation.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool transfer target Alexis Mac Allister will agree to join a new club "very early" in the summer, potentially this month.

Indeed, according to reports, Jude Bellingham is on his way to La Liga with Real Madrid – as opposed to Anfield, as many had suspected.

And if the young Englishman won't be joining the Reds, they'll have to look for other midfielders. The good news is, Brighton star Mac Allister looks almost certain to leave in the near future with Liverpool ready to pounce.

While talking about the current situation on the Here We Go podcast, Romano explained that a deal could be done as soon as May or June with the Reds in talks with the player's representatives.

He said (12:44): “There is nothing advanced for Alexis Mac Allister. Liverpool are there, Liverpool will speak to the player's side.

"When I mention the player's side, in this case it is his family because his family are taking care of the future of Alexis. They are going to speak to Liverpool about the project, Jurgen Klopp, what they want to do. There will be a conversation.
